Biodiversity Garden

The upper level of the site hosts our Biodiversity Garden, part of the Inverclyde Pollinator Corridor project. This project was designed to allow bees and other pollinators to travel greater distances and thus improve the quality of pollination across Inverclyde.
The space includes a “Nectar Bar” filled with ideal flower species for pollinators, seven soil mounds made with earth cleared from the main garden area, a log pile made from local waste wood, spaces for nesting and hibernation and a stumpery of tree stumps donated by Wemyss Bay Caravan Park.

Community Allotments

Our community allotment makes rentable beds available to individuals and groups who wish to grow fresh fruits, vegetable and flowers.
We run various activities and events designed to support our growers and even have some sponsored beds available free of charge.
We want to make sure our growers can make the most of their raised bed and can provide seed, soil, and support to help them flourish.

At Belville, we compost our food scraps and garden waste in order to create a nutrient rich compost which is great for our community garden and raised beds.
High quality compost helps us improve soil quality and grow healthier, stronger plants.
Not only that, but our composting system reduces the waste to landfill, lowering our carbon footprint and returning essential nutrient to the soil.
We actively support composting in the community as part of our waste management system and can provide resources and practical advice to help you get composting at home. We also work with local schools to develop composting sites with involvement from pupils and staff alike.
